What are your Goals for the New Year?
Here are some things I like to track when I play golf:

Fairways hit
Greens in regulation
Number of putts
Up and Down %
Sand saves

I would like to improve in all of these categories, but what is realistic? Here is a sampling of statistics from the PGA Tour.

These were good enough to make 100th place on the Tour in each of the categories:

Driving distance – 289yds (Briny Baird)
Driving accuracy – 62% (Frank Lickliter)
Scoring average – 71.1 (Mark Hensby)
GIR – 65% (Bernhard Langer)
Putts per round– 29 (Brandt Jobe)
Sand Saves – 49% (John Daly)
Scrambling – 58% (Billy Andrade)

Food for thought.

Stats
I made up a spreadsheet about a year ago that tracks my last 20 rounds. Fairways, greens, Putts, Up & Down inside 100 yds and sand saves. It also figures my current handicap index. I will happily share the spreadsheet, although it is pretty simple. My current stats are.
Overall Stats
Average Score 82.200
Average Putts 33.250
Fairways Hit % 63.93%
Greens Hit % 41.39%
Sand Saves % 12.50%
Up & Down % 35.12%
My best month was;
77.90
30.60
65.80%
46.80%
25.00%
44.72%

I did that keeping of stats for about 20 some rounds. In the end what I discovered was that they told me only one thing, I need distance. Off the front tees my stats didn't come close to my stats off the back tees.

My goal this coming year is 'To Own My Golf Stroke'.

Just curious, with a scoring average of 82 I'm betting your handicap is between 6-9? Boy, your stats look really familiar! Good idea with the spreadsheet. I think I will do the same thing. It will be interesting to see how things look over time for me in 2006.

And please PM me your spreadsheet!

Gotta Stay Challenged
My goals for the next year are:

1) Incorporate what I learned at the LBG Academy as SoCal into my game

2) Lower my handicap to +1 (women's) during next year (currently +0.3)

3) Play in a women's USGA event

If this doesn't keep me busy and challenged then I don't know what will!

Cool software
I found some pretty cool software that I'm going to use to start tracking all of my rounds and stats.

http://www.caddiemaster.com

(I have no financial interest in this product nor do I know anyone that does.)

My goals
I have two goals that have been stated here before. Both of which will be reality.

1) I will pass the PGA PAT in February of this year
2) I will have a 0 index by August of 2006

BUT the most important goal is to continue to have fun with this marvelous game, to continue to learn more about TGM and to continue to GIVE BACK to the people of this country who have given so much to all of us.

Thanks for that opportunity,

Obi WunPutt

I have really been struggling, but it is primarily due to lack of range time. Between the holidays and the weather I have not gotten the practice time I need to make much progress. Unfortunately, I am hard-headed and continue to play while trying to implement changes. I have been spectacularly inconsistent (as if that is a surprise)! I hope to get some time in the next month or two to hit the range and get some video put together. I'll send y'all the pics to make sure I am not wandering off the yellow book road. Thanks and I hope your holidays were wonderful.
