"Changing lives one Pole-ie at a time"
Recently, Titleist was nice enough to send me a new set of iron (735cm). The area Titleist rep was looking for feedback on the irons so I forced myself to hit a bag of balls at our range (I am a little burnt out. Sixty to Eighty hours of work for six straight months will tire even the most dedicated club pro).
I worked through my regular practice routine starting off with my SW, PW, 5 iron and Driver. All were going where I wanted them to go (Machine Feel). When I got to the driver a few of the members decided to come over and watch. After hitting three on the screws, I hit the top of the eight-foot flag at the end of range 230 yards away. Immediately, I yelled "Pole-ie"! The members that were not watching all turned around and looked at me. I can only imagine what they were thinking, "The Pro has lost his marbles, again". That is o.k. The last thing I want my members too think is that I am boring. I then explained it is all right to yell Hole-ie or Pole-ie if you get one. They nodded politely.
One of the members then walked over and said, "That shot you just hit, is that the Golfing Machine stuff you are always giving us".
"Yes, it is", I replied.
He got in his cart and went to the pro shop. When I got there a few minutes later he had purchased a copy of Homer's "Little Yellow Book".
“It is not for the faint of heart,” I said as he strolled out of the pro shop. “But, I’ll be glad to help you through it.”
“I’ve been trying to hit that thing for years,” he said, “and you did it in just a couple of balls”…his life will never be the same.

Nice story Drew and congrats on the Pollie. You sure impress me with your knowledge of the golf swing.
Sounds like you have a little bit of "Swamp Land" in MA.............

"The Pole Vault"
The Pole-ie was luck. But, TGM gives luck a chance to happen. It just happen to come at the right time.
I owe much to Lynn and the members of this forum for helping me "crystalize" the concepts I use every day in the battle against clubhead throwaway.
Swamp land in Massachusetts? More like an "Out-Door Pool Hall" .

Congrats on the Polie!
Drew, thanks for sharing about the polie...keep us updated on the student that just picked up the book for the first time (always interesting to see how someone progresses once they get on the "real" road to improvement).
Good week for you: Pats win their first game, Sox still in first place, and you got a polie to boot. Down here in Baltimore I only have G.O.L.F. to look forward too since the Ravens lost on Sunday and the O's are out of it...

"There is always next year"
Thanks Keith,
The "Wheel of Fortune" is always spinning. Down one minute, on top the next. Enjoy it while we got it, and work hard when we don't. The trick is to stay on top. TGM will keep you game on top if you let it, but as for the Orioles....
