Do you have a Favorite edition of the Machine? If so, why?

If pushed, I'd have to say my favorite is the latest edition -- the 6th -- simply because it is the most complete, especially as it relates to Hitting and Swinging. Of course, my "6th" now includes all my mark-ups from the as-yet-unpublished 7th!

Next would be the 3rd edition, if for no other reason than the classic descriptions of the Twelve Sections of the Stroke in Chapter Eight. That is as close as Homer Kelley ever got to treating the Golf Stroke in fairy tale fashion, i.e., beginning with "Once upon a time" and ending with "They lived happily ever after." After that, he decided he wanted Chapter Eight to merely pinpoint the Twelve Sections and their boundaries. All the 'goodies' were then either put in other sections or simply cut out for lack of space. And I gotta tell you, some of those 'cut out' parts had value. They still do.

The truth is that I treasure all the editions and am constantly going back and looking at the old stuff. They are somewhat like children to me now: I love'em all about the same (but some a little more than others at times!).

The only 'problem' is remembering 'what things are where.' For example, this last week at the Henry-Griffitts Conference at Cuscowilla Golf Club on Lake Oconee (Georgia), I told the class that the Maximum Power of the #3 Accumulator is achieved by bringing the Turned Left Hand into Impact and gave the reference as 6-B-3-A. Well, everybody went straight there and that specific reference -- however true -- wasn't to be found. Silly Yoda: It's in the 4th Edition! Nevertheless, it is still the classic description of how to achieve the Maximum Power of the #3 Accumulator!

And who can forget one of Homer's best lines: "Mechanics are peanuts without the Clubhead Lag." It's in the 2nd edition. Or is the 3rd?

I go back as far as the 3rd. It is REALLY good. There are a few gems from the 6th chapter that didn't get brought forward that are great!

I hope to pick up the 2nd and 1st editions sometime . . .

The 1st is EXPENSIVE!
