Am I doing it right?
I went to an indoor practice area today to see if I had picked up anything TGM yet. I was trying to get the flat left, bent right, PP 1, and PP3 thing going only to find I was hitting the worst looking and feeling series of shots ever. I was ready to quit before I hurt someone in the room with me. Late in the bucket of balls I found that if I set up with a flat left, bent right then cocked the club down and held that firm downward cocked, flat left feel I hit some extremely crisp shots.
The only thing was I really couldn't tell what the flight of the ball would be as it hit the net after about 18 feet. I was using an 8 iron and it was hitting the net at a height of about 7 feet, and they were crisp.
Hopefully you can understand from my description what I mean.
Begining the journey, I hope
Steve

Steve,
Head over to Chuck's site and do a search on Yoda's the Magic of the Right Forearm Primer. Print that and study it. Also search on "dowel exercises or practice." Print these and study them. Buy a dowel or two at the hardware store. They are cheap. Do the exercises. This will get your mind in your hands and not on the clubhead. I'm sure all these threads will show up here too.
On this site check out the video of Yoda blasting the impact bag AT LOW POINT AND FOLLOW THROUGH. This is how you want to look. Soak these images into your mellon.
Buy or make an impact bag. Train both of your hands separately and then together. Start out with little chipping motions into the bag. After you have hit it, hold your position and check your wrist alignments (flat and bent). Train the impact interval and then graduate to bigger motions. Do this stuff infront of a mirror if you can. Feed your hands good alignments from pounding the bag.
Do some of your work at home without having to worry about what the ball is doing. Also if you use the dowel you don't have to focus on the clubhead. It's just you and the hands your mama gave you. If you can make the motions, the shots will come.
Good luck man! You can do this.

I picked up an impact bag yesterday, I purchased dowels last week, I've been reading posts and trying to follow them. I am hoping what I am doing matches what is intended. I don't want to ingrain improper techniques.

Cool! You're on the right track. Take the dowel up by bending your elbow. DO NOT COCK YOUR RIGHT WRIST. Bend it. Make sure that you "lay" the entire dowel on the bag. Don't just hit it with the tip. If you get the length of the dowel on the bag your alignments should be pretty good. Pound it and hold. Soak up the feel. Study Yoda's Right Forearm Flying Wedge posts and you are off to the races.
