Use the Lagging Clubhead Takeaway technique. Your Pivot Motion will Transport the Arms in Start Up with the Left Wrist Bent (perhaps even increasing a bit) and the Right Wrist Flat. The Clubshaft (directed by the Right Forearm) will continue to point at the Straight Plane Line. The Wrists will then gradually assume their Impact aligments -- Left Wrist Flat and Right Wrist Bent -- as the Backstroke progresses to the Top.

Regarding 'pulling that left arm,' make sure that any pulling is being led by the Body Turn. Unless this is done, your arms will outrace the body, and the shot will be lost.
