Reading tough greens with slopes and hills all around

My biggest challenge is reading greens that sloping fringes and mounds around the green and then big hills around the golf course in general.

This sounds crazy, but sometimes the putts look downhill in both directions to me! And I know this is an optical illusion.

Anyone with tips on how to read greens in these conditions?
