2 locals in British Open
Associated Press
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Former Louisville, Ga., resident Brian Gay and Augusta native Charles Howell have secured spots in the British Open by being in the top 20 in the FedEx Cup standings.
Gay is 12th in the standings and Howell 15th.
This will be the second British Open for Gay, who made his debut in 2001. Howell has played five times, missing the cut in his past three starts (2005, 2007 and 200 . Charley Hoffman , who is 14th in the FedEx Cup standings, also earned a spot at the British Open, which will be played July 16-19 at Turnberry.
Robert Rock, Thongchai Jaidee and Louis Oosthuizen earned British Open spots from a similar category in Europe.

Brian Gay will play the British Open and, also, The Barclays Scottish Open the week before. I will be on hand for the former and possibly some of the latter.

Nice one, I hope to be at The Open myself, purely as a spectator of course!!!
Turnberry will be long, but there is some hot weather due in the UK so it should be running. Yoda, get BG to start working on those chip and runs now!
I actually think that outside the Masters, The Open is BG's best chance of major success

Lynn,
Let me know when you are coming over. I live about 45 mins away from Loch Lomond and it would be good to see you again

We will definitely meet up, Alex. In fact, I am in discussions with Michael Walker of Pete Cowen Golf http://www.petecowen.com to joint venture an Academy while I'm over. As an LBG alumni, you will be entitled to a substantial discount. Stay tuned!
