Homer's writing concept!

As a friend of Homer, let me try to put into perspective the "why" of the way he wrote the book. Architects place horizontal dimensions on floor plans and vertical dimentions on elevations, thus one knows where to look for the latest (addendums) information.

Homer did a lot of electrical trouble shooting on B-17's and he had to do it without adequate plans. His goal in the book was to "code-ify" it so that if he changed something it would show up in one place (hence - the addendums or new editions).

After Homer died, Salley wanted to protect Homer's work and would not allow any changes in Homer's work. I personally feel Homer would applaud the efforts of clarification as shown on this forum, but as stated above, as separate efforts. However, as I see it, one needs Homer's work as the basis for an changes or clarification. Not knowing the details of Salley's sale of the book, I don't know if such an approach is possible.

Homer would have no problem, I believe, with a forum like this, I bet we couldn't shut him up on it. LOL

His work, the book is just fine. It takes a little greenman sometimes to clarify and many great posts from his friends to explain. Sally did right in protected it.

But... The new ownership only as I was told, owns the name, not the content.

The book can be interpreted - many have (Hebron, Cook, etc) and I’d love to see a new stab at it.

Actually, I was reading a Forum topic about Homer's definition of Momentum, but I hit new post instead of reply. Now I can't find the topic or do I know how to change this new post to the proper place. Read about how to use the Forum and decided it was more complex than Homer.

I agree Homer would be pleased, but he would only want the changes in a new Edition.

Actually, I have been "stabbing" at it for 20 years.

I think they should make the changes that Homer made for the unpublished seventh edition.. redo the diagrams, redo the pictures to bring the printing standard up to the 21st century, proof read it 1000's of times prior to print and then leave it exactly as it is.

It would be cool to get a CD with the book...your "virtual A.I." to lift the fog...or they could just come to the forums...
