6Bmike's Best of Photos 2005
I just ended my career as a photographer for the Philadelphia Inquirer last week and now work on the desk jockying pictures as
part of the production crew- a fish out of water- I'll now
have more time to explore the world to shot and publish what I want on my own time.
Here is my 'Best of 2005' Flash url- this is what I do (did) between posts as a general assignment photog- hahaha
javascript :void(x=open('http://www.realcities.com/multimedia/philly/inquirer/KRT_packages/archive/photodesk/05plunkett/','graphic','toolbar=no,location=no,status=no,menu bar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,width=600,height =540'));x.focus();
It looks like a giant url (it is) but copy and paste and it works fine. Open it a give it a look

Nice work! I know a few photogs who made the switch to the desk and they had a hard time at first because they missed the adrenaline rush.
I actually walked away from a reporting position after six years. I was just burned out. I think the last three years of covering crime and courts did me in, but I'm much happier as a teacher. Although, I do miss the occasional breaking news coverage.

Mike, very nice photos. The helmet one was pretty cool. Many of them captured some raw emotions---from the woman who had the depression to the unadulterated joy of the soldiers returning from Iraq. Your paper will miss you. Why not come over to this side of the state and help out the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette?? They could use you. With "Fast Eddie" as the governor it's a laugh-a-minute. Dr Dave

Thanks, Mike, for all you've done to serve 'we the people.' It is the collective prism of professional journalists and photographers around the world that allows each individual to form his or her own view every day and to act accordingly. We appreciate your contributions.
You and I have talked extensively in recent weeks about the personal consequences of the upheavals in your industry and employer. I wish you well in your new position and, most of all, look forward to the fruits of your new discretionary time.

Pittsburgh here I come
Thanks everyone- I just wanted to show some of my work outside of golf.
It was always good seeing the soldiers come home safe- these aren’t kids but 35 yr old accountants and police officers in the reserve that have put in several tours. God bless them all.
The lady with the picture of her son is the wife of our last (straight) NJ Governor. She is an advocated for public awareness of depression- takes guts. And the helmet shot was just making a good picture out of a weak, “been there shot that” (a thousand times) routine assignment. Folks seemed to like it more than me. The last picture in the slide show is the “official” FIRST born “Baby Boomer.” Very cool lady. Being on the streets has its benefits- I got to met a bunch of interesting people.
Pittsburgh? Sure- sign me up.
