With par at the 13th to remain at 12-under, John is now T-11. But things are really tight at the top, and a birdie puts him T-7.
That birdie may be on the way: On the short (361 yards) Par 4 14th, he drove it 313 yards to just in front of the green. And he's wedged it to 6 feet, 8 inches.
Five-under for the round, 13-under for the tournament and now T-6.
Coming up, the 465-yard, Par 4 15th, the 4th-ranked toughest on the course.
P.S. Set those VCRs and Tivos (ABC, 2-4 PM ET), boys and girls. With continued good play and a little luck, there will be some air time for 'ol John this afternoon!
On the 557-yard, Par 5 17th, John's just ripped it 320 yards up the left side. He's got a perfect angle in from 218 yards. For him, probably a 5-iron (no more than a 4-iron) to be on in two.
