I would (respectfully) suggest that both notions are recipes for casting and flipping respectively. Throwing anything effectively involves straightening of the bent (right, usually) wrist that holds, and propels, the projectile.
Driving the club head down, out and through the ball whilst it lags behind the hands, stressing the club shaft in the process, should be our only objective.
