It said on the PGA site there will be 2 more workshops. I am PGA apprentice in Wilmington, NC. I would love to attend all of them, but days off are hard to come by. I'm just making sure there will be more. The March workshop will be tough to get too.

Thanks

Hitman,

Thanks for your interest and question.

Rick Murphy has asked me to do two additional workshops this year. Nothing yet has been decided, but we are tentatively thinking about this Summer and Fall. The original idea was for each seminar to have a different emphasis. Not hard to do with the wealth of information we have available! However, it may be that we just present the same seminar -- actually, no two are ever exactly alike! -- on multiple occasions. As I've said, nothing yet has been decided regarding future Carolinas seminars.

My whole goal at the moment is to make the upcoming March 15-16 presentation the best of my career. I had already tweaked the basic Power Point presentation I did for my four-hour, main platform presentation at the 2005 PGA of Sweden's Coaching and Teaching Summit. Then, for my presentation last month to the Aloha Section at Ko Olina Golf Club in Oahu, Hawaii, I employed a professional and added a lot of bells and whistles (video, music, enhanced graphics, animations, photos, etc.). In preparing for The Carolinas, I have done even more. In fact, I spent all day today working on the presentation. And, I'm not done yet.

My advice is to do your best to make this event. Carpe diem. Still, I understand that circumstances often prevent attendance, and I will do my best to accommodate those who could not make this one.

hitman119 02-15-2010 11:02 AM

Wow, that sounds pretty good. I will do my best to try and make it.

GPStyles 02-15-2010 11:22 AM

Hitman,

as they say in the ads - Just Do It.

You can be pretty sure that NO other PGA apprentice will be attending or would even think of getting their knowledge ahead of their peers the way you are.

Regardless of the cost and time, you WILL make it back over the years when you become a better player AND teacher as a result of attending.

Don't even think about it, book your place and worry about the time and cost later! :salut:

hitman119 02-15-2010 06:00 PM

Yeah, I think this is quite the opportunity. Hank Haney is speaking at our section meeting, but I will be at PGA school that week (almost done). It is funny because missing his speech does not bother me, but missing Lynn would. Hopefully the rest of the section realize this opportunity, but most of them only look at the top 100 list of golf pros.

Hi Hitman,

Good to see a young man who has his priorities right.:salut:

Hopefully the rest of the section will see the light, eventually.

Yes, hitman, I understand.

Rick and I were asked early on by the 'powers that be' to move our earlier scheduled dates -- which we did -- to avoid any conflict.

Gotta luv it!

Hi Hitman,

Good Luck with the successful completion of your PGA apprenticeship. I would strongly encourage you to try and attend this workshop. Especially since it so close and the content of material, quality of instructors and the cost cannot be beat (this I can unequivically guarantee). The experience will accelerate your teaching career exponentially.

This advice is so good,I am taking it myself. Hope to see you there.

Hello Guys,

I don't do this very often...post...but I wanted to say one thing about the Greensboro, NC workshop/seminar at Carolina Golf Academy. I can guarantee you that if you attend you will leave with a wealth of information that will make you a better player and a better teacher than you were when you arrived. That goes for everyone...no matter what your skill level...with respect to teaching or playing. And you will meet some great guys!
You know that Lynn has accumulated a wealth of information and can deliver it in a way that no other can...did I say accumulate...I did...and he has loaded this information and has stored it and now he is ready to deliver into a full scale release in Greensboro.
Come join us!:)

Nothing Could be Finer than to be in Carolina with Yoda

Yoda,

How was the The Carolina's PGA Section Presentation received? Lots of great stuff in the works I suspect. Wish I could have been there.

Thanks, Drew.

Our Carolinas PGA Alignment Golf Workshop was a real success. We took bunches of photos, but I don't have'em yet. They'll be up soon.

The big news is that this workshop (and completion of its 63-page Workbook) served as Level One (Associate) training in the new Lynn Blake Certified Instructor Program and its four levels:

Lynn Blake Certified Associate

Lynn Blake Certified Instructor

Lynn Blake Certified Senior Instructor

Lynn Blake Certified Master Instructor.

In addition to the professional designations, there is also a progressive Certified Amateur status for those who would pursue a rigorous course of study and training in advanced Golf Stroke Mechanics. The two curriculum diverge at Level Three: The Instructor emphasis is on the Variations he will encounter as he serves ALL students. The Amateur emphasis -- as is the PGA TOUR Player -- is on his own Stroke and Game . . . the Player curriculum.

We had a great time over the two days in Greensboro, NC. The Carolinas PGA Section is the largest in the United States (in fact, the world). At the close, 33 professionals and three visiting amateurs earned status and joined us as Certified Associates. Soon, the Associate training will be on-line (as the 'at your own pace' alternative to our intensive two-day workshop). Next is the four-day 'hands-on' Certified Instructor Training at our new $400,000 Lynn Blake Golf Performance Center at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Georgia (90 miles east of Atlanta).

I'm proud to say our new Associates include the:

Carolinas Professional of the Year.

Carolinas Teacher of the Year.

Carolinas Player of the Year.

Also:

Two former Carolinas Section Professional Champions.

The former North Carolina Open Champion.

The current South Carolina Open Champion.

Two Golf Magazine Top 100 Teachers.

The men’s golf coach at the University of Wisconsin (and teacher of two PGA TOUR professionals whose names you would know).

Two Top-20 qualifiers in the PGA of America’s National Championship and competitors in the PGA Championship (at Oakland Hills and Sahalee).

Several TGM GSEBs and GSEMs.

A number of these new Associates are already my longer-term students. The remaining are my new friends in Golf.

And so, we're off.

A simple mission, first Homer Kelley's, and now my own:

Get the correct information into the hands of the golfing public around the world.

We're not for everybody. I know that. Ne'er the less, there are tens of millions of golfers who will embrace our message, and it will take hundreds of us, indeed thousands of us, to get the job done.

The road ahead is now clear to me, and we have taken the first step.

The Journey has begun.

:3gears:

P.S. If you want to join me in this mission, or if you just want to become one of the most knowledgeable individuals on the planet regarding Golf Stroke Mechanics, please send your email to lynn@lynnblakegolf.com.

Uh, I made a mistake in my yesterday's post, guys. As I was bustling out of the room, I asked for an approximate number of those in our 'maiden voyage' class who had earned and opted for our new designation, Lynn Blake Certified Associate. Apparently, one stack of evaluation forms was still on a distant table, and I was told the number was 21. In actuality, the number was . . .

34.

Considering that we only had 36 in the class . . .

That's a good thing!

:golfcart2:

34 guys with a whole new understanding of how to teach G.O.L.F. !

Just think how many people that is going to have an impact on. How many lessons, how many junior golfers. How many of these teachers assistants who are going to learn from them, and start teaching LBG themselves... WOW!

34 guys that blew by me! (and they were probably ahead to begin with.)

Let's get cracking, I need to catch up to that first 34, and blow by the other 2 boneheads :laughing9 :) :salut:

Hi Andrew,

There are some things you just have to do. If you love G.O.L.F., this was definitely one of them. You would have had a great time with your keen interest and passion for G.O.L.F.

PS - Still trying to schedule a trip to Ireland. Will advise on any developments. If it all comes together, a round at Ardglass will need to be worked in. A pint or two at the least.

I have to agree. Especially given my improvement over these last few years. My golfing buds often ask me what's going on. Its kind of a long and complex story isnt it. And one I have only just begun to understand myself, assuming I do. Wish I had more time on this good earth to see how far I could go with it. Aye there's the rub.

I believe that Lynn Blake could achieve something that Homer wished for. To make this body of knowledge help Joe Duffer. To be his handbook. It takes all types, the researcher, the performers, the teachers. Lynn is a bit of all of them to my mind but first and foremost a truly superior and passionate communicator, interpreter. And Homer's book needed one, big time, as we know. I bet he'll bring other things to the table too. Im thinking about motion, getting from one place to another simply, naturally, efficiently.

Homer would applaud this announcement, I bet. After all it was he that "just wanted to get the information out there". Its time has come I think. Its language might just become golfs language, as terrifying as that will seem to some. I see the word "Accumulator" and a like numbered, associated "Pressure Point" in a golf magazine coming to your town soon. Maybe they'll leave out the crazy capitalization though. That'll take another 50 years.

Teaching Grasshoppers

Rick Murphy, PGA director of instruction at the Carolina Golf Academy in Greensboro, N.C., gave a simultaneous golf lesson to some 5,500 fans attending the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game on May 15. Murphy and his staff also provided free 10-minute lessons before the game as part of PGA Free Lesson Month.

Though an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the "most people simultaneously taking a golf lesson" would not be certified, the world record is 632, set in China, on December 11, 2009.

Murphy taught participants the basic body motion of a golf stroke, the proper grip and the left hand and right hand alignments at impact, using the mascot "Guilford" in his lesson.

One of the most successful growth-of-the-game initiatives in the golf industry, PGA Free Lesson Month is a collaborative campaign spearheaded by The PGA of America, Golf Digest Publications and Golf Channel.
