My Hitting Stroke - Video

Here is some video I took of my swing the other day. The iron swing is a 6-iron and the driver is obviously a driver. Yes, I know my shutter speed isn't fast enough but I'm working with the camera I have. This is as sharp and clear as I could get it without making it a huge file. You should be able to click frame-by-frame.

That said, this is my Hitting stroke with both clubs. I've been using it with all my clubs lately and have had some great success with it on the course.

Nice hits Matt

You're not using impact hands adress?
Are you grounding the driver?

I certainly feel like I'm using impact hands; my flat wrist is flat.

Yes, I'm grounding the driver.

Hi Matt,

Swings look nice, I am interested to know the feel for you, as they still look like dragging type motion with a top position instead of an end position, which would suggest swinging. I am limited as I cannnot look at individual frames through the swing. Just interested as I am in the beginning stages of learning a hitting procedure also, and despite the feeling of right arm action, the video is still revealing a pull from the top position and active pivot thrust.

Whatever you are doing, it sounds like you are killing it lol

The Push

Matt,

Very nice 4-Barrel hit from what I can see. What you do is what I feel in the stroke, especially post impact. The feel between hitting and swinging is radically different, yet the video of your swing wouldn't give away much to the untrained eye.

Curious why you don't set the right forearm a little more on plane at address (less #3 accumulator). No biggie though, you have a great hitters motion. Congrats!

Indeed, the alignments through impact are very nice. I especially like the well kept 'wedges'.

It looks like you really try hard to fire/straighten your left leg? There is power there, but be careful not to overdo it, you'll tend to come out of your spine angle too soon. Do you fight a push/block?

Very 'solid' compression , plenty of leverage through the entire body.

I'd bet you're quite accurate with your short irons and wedges when you don't get too quick. Hard to miss by much with alignments like that.

Thanks Ed.

I don't worry about my left leg, or lower body in general for that matter. I am not trying to straighten my left leg. In fact, I really haven't spent much time working on my lower body in years. It's kind of sorted itself out as everything else fell into place.

Densikat: I really feel a slow startdown and right arm thrust accelerating into the ball. Being able to Hit has really made Swinging easier, because I can finally feel that "out-and-out pull" at startdown when I try to Swing. I suspect I always had a little too much right arm action in my stroke while I was trying to Swing and never realized it. Now, though, I can say to myself, "Don't feel any right arm thrust and pull instead" and then that allows me to know I'm applying Swinging correctly when I try.

Exactly what i felt a while ago in those couple threads i posted....it is so much easier now to swing or hit on command

Homer said that Hitters can Swing but Swingers have the darnest time Hitting.

Looking good Matt. Love the mash.

BTW: load the clip in windows movie maker and you can slide the bar back and forth.

Nice

Matt,

I really like the speed you are generating. How far do you hit your 6 iron and driver on average?
