Not the same meaning though ...lol.

The golfing machines version of hinge action is duplicating the action of a hinge by always keeping the left wrist vertical to one of three basic planes....

Did you notice there was a small perceptable pivot though as he is demonstrating... this is backed up in his book 'on golf'.

yeah - not exactly modern teaching.

Nothing wrong with the grip though

Bobby was definitely a swinger with every club in the bag. Do you feel as though a Hitter such as Lee Travino would grip the putter a little tighter?

Yes.

One thing i'd like to point out:

Back then greens were no where in as nice a shape that they are now. Probably even worse than your local muni.

This is why if you look at a lot of putting strokes from a while ago you'll that they are fairly "wristy."

they needed to be due to he bump conditions and for speed.

We are spoiled today.

Another interesting point is when you talk to a tour player about winning a tournament they always take you through the putt they made. For instance, I was working with a player that formerly one Memphis and we were on the 18th at TPC there. He gets over this 8 footer and says "I just tried to hit it in that direction"

There is definitely a "hit" in putting. Back in the old'n days the greens were slow and the ball softer, you had to "hit" the heck out of it. Nowadays the greens are faster and the ball harder so you still "hit" but nothing like then.
