Nice Mathew..... a piece I have always liked. I too play guitar, many styles from classical, jazz, blues, rock, alternate tunings etc. Over the years I've played various band instruments (clarinet, bass clarinet, sax), various percussion (mostly afro-cuban) as well as bass and some piano (mostly by ear).

Music is certainly my other passion. Did some photography long ago. Of course a good hike through the mountains or by the sea is always a pleasure (I was lucky enough to have spent a lot of time in Alaska as a kid, you can't beat the fishing). I love to dive (scuba) when I can (AOW 100+ dives). If I ever get around to finishing my last course (rescue) I've got my master diver. I love to downhill ski as well, but don't get to do it near enough anymore!

My freetime is spent in wrestling contests, pretending to be garbage men, and fixing broken Hot Wheels. Outside of that, I love to read sci-fi/fantasy books. Just got through the latest Harry Potter in 3 nights, most of which I had to stay up to 1:30am reading.

I've got three boys, 4 yo, 2 yo, 5 months. The two older boys are totally into cars, bugs, animals and "guys" (basically any craftsman, plumber, exterminator who's come to the house). Riley, the oldest, has his sights on being a truck driver. Elijah, the middle, wants to be a garbage man.

Garbage man.

Not a bad ambition.

When asked 'what he does', a neighbor of mine always tells it like it is: He was a 'garbage man' and is now retired.

What comes out in subsequent conversation is how he built it up from one truck and route into many of both and later sold out (at the top of the market) to Waste Management.

When you hear the story standing in the living room of his $1.5 million paid-for house, you become a believer. And waving to the paid-for his-and-her Mercedes' as they pass becomes more than a neighborly gesture.

It is appropriate homage to a lifetime of disciplined work ethic.

Well, like they say... you can work hard, or you can work smart. The object is to accomplish the task (be it ball striking, or collecting garbage).

Nothing really interesting here...

Hackey-sack with buddies for fun, hockey (I'm canadian what do you expect!?!- it's the 2nd best game in the world, BTW), any other sports- baseball, basketball, badminton, etc. etc.

Enrolled in Police Foundations right now in college....really like it actually...never been one for the "school part" of school, but I find this social/law enforcement stuff interesting. All you have to have is an understanding of ppl and an opinion...

Anyhoo...

Things I'd like to do eventually:

-guitar for sure...I always pretend it's me playing Freebird or Comfortably Numb or All Along the Watchtower or something...I want to do it for real. No more air guitar lol.
-some kind of martial arts
-actually get into working out
-get more into art...I've always been naturally good at painting/drawing
-buy a monkey (no- I'm serious)
-learn to weave baskets underwater...
