Lie angle after swing change
 

I spent some time with Yoda and Yoda'sluke the other day. I had my hands too low, and started my backswing too far inside. Naturally my clubs are 1* flat. I am just now realizing that after a couple of hours of work (backswing on plane, and hands now in correct position) that my ball flight is going to the right. Is this due to the 1* flat irons? Should they now be more upright?

What do your divots look like? Are they toe deep and coming from the inside? If so, a lie change is probably needed.

I would check the lie angles. But, I would attribute most to the hinge action, after seeing the motion in person. For anyone reading this and not knowing, deck at one time was a +2, and it shows. Your computer would not allow you to use a horizontal hinge action because of the bent plane. Fix the plane and keep the old hinge action, not good. Fix the plane and use a horizontal hinge action, \\:D/ =D> !!!

You have an unusual amount of talent that shouldn't be squandered. Keep up the fight against the old stuff, and you'll find yourself back in the + category, where you belong.

Thanks for the input. Once I am able to hit some balls (hopefully tomorrow) I will check my divots.

Clubhead Path (Right Hand) and Clubface Alignment (Left Hand)
 

Luke is right, Jeff. You have for years been habitually aligning your Clubface Square to the Target Line and open to the direction of your Clubhead's Outside-In Path through the Ball. You've Steered (the First Snare / 3-F-7-A) through Impact and thus have not been able to achieve the true Roll of the #3 Accumulator (Left Arm and Club Angle). That's because your Computer knows that if you do Roll, it's "Fore Left!"

Now you have made a great deal of progress in a very short period of time. For the first time, your Clubhead is taking the correct Inside-Out Path through Impact. But, your habitual tendency to Steer is causing you to align the Clubface Open to the new Inside-Out Flight Path of the Clubhead (2-N-0). So off the Ball goes to the right. Or even right-to-right! Don't feel bad...this is what everybody does!

Now the challenge:

Your subconscious Feel (to Steer and align the Clubface Open to the direction of your Swing Path) and your intellectual knowledge (of the correct Horizontal Hinge Action and its Roll through Impact) must 'duke it out.' It's a little like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time.

You must learn to differentiate the respective Motions by Feel. That is, the Clubhead Path (Right Forearm and #3 Pressure Point Tracing) and the Clubface Alignment (the Flat Left Wrist executing its Horizontal Hinge Action). Two separate and distinct actions...but ultimately one Motion with its own identifiable Feel. Sounds tough, but it's really not. With a little time...

It's a piece of cake.
