Saw the "big boys" today
As this is the last year for the 84 Lumber Classic I decided to make the 45 mile trip so I could see the "big boys" hit the ball. Never ceases to amaze me how good these guys are. Their tempo and ball compression is phenomenal. A few things I noticed: Ben Curtis sets up with his feet directly perpendicular to the target line---no flare of either foot. Then, Ryan Moore has his rear foot directly perpendicular , but his front foot looks like it is flared about 60 degrees towards the target. Also noticed that his left thumb peeks out between his right thumb/index finger when he grips the club. He is having some type of problem with his wrist and has an unusual routine now. He sets up with his hands very low and then cocks his wrists so the club is directly out in front of him(horizontal to the ground), and then turns and makes his backswing from there. Trust me, his contact is fine. Charles Howell III is really hitting the ball well, but his putting, especially his lag putting, is horrific. If this guy could improve his putting just a smidge he would be way up on the money list. J B Holmes just KILLS his tee shots with the driver. Mr. Villegas appears to have spent some time in the weight room---very muscular arms on that dude. Reminds me of myself 30 years ago---ok, we can all dream..... Dave
