Cost Of Corporate Outings

There are many variable costs, e.g., general administration and facilities fees, but a prime cost is usually the player himself. Many PGA TOUR players have 'big bucks' sponsorship agreements that require them to participate in a minimum number of corporate engagements per year. Depending on the marquis value of 'the name,' that cost can range from nominal to outrageous.

In another era, Dave Stockton was the undisputed 'King of the Corporate Outings.' He filled most Mondays and Tuesdays and used the Wednesday Pro-Ams to 'press the flesh' and build the relationships necessary for the Monday/Tuesday gigs. How much did he make doing this? In his own words:

"It was like winning the tournament every week."

And that's a good thing!

:)

Here are a few photos of the Verizon Communications Clinic that Brian Gay and I conducted last November at the Golden Bear Club in Keene's Point, Windemere, Florida. The event was followed by a dinner and presentation by Brian at the host club. Many thanks to Brian's wife, Kimberly, and Trey Stroud, Verizon, for coordinating this memorable event.
