Slide Hip Turn/ Rotated Shoulder Turn
 

I understand SLIDE HIP TURN is now listed as the Variation for Swinging.

Discuss SLIDE HIP TURN... your take on HOW it is executed, AND why IT IS BENEFICIAL.

Rotated Shoulder Turn has replaced Flat. Discuss the compatibility of Rotated Shoulder Turn with Slide Hip Turn, and with Swinging in general.

The description of Rotated Shoulder Turn is ambiguous where it says "Axis tilt moves the plane line and angle, so use shiftless hip turn".
If it always applies then it's incompatible with Slide hip turn.
If it doesn't always apply, what specific conditions requires shiftless hip turn? Where it's being used not as a turned shoulder plane or to shift to any other chosen plane angle, but being used as transport-only?

There is a rumor that this was an unintended change.

I have the same confusion. 7 edition 12-1-0 and 12-1-1 on basic pattern recommends using rotated shoulder turn (was standard on edition 6) and slide hip turn. But then rotated shoulder turn said use shiftless hip turn, does this in contradition to slide hip turn?

7th Edition Warning Label
 

Beware the 7th edition's Rotated Shoulder Turn for Pivot Strokes with Weight Shift (Hip Shift). The two are incompatible components. The Rotated Shoulder Turn uses the Shiftless Hip Turn (zero Axis Tilt) and is normally confined to Short Strokes, i.e., Chipping and Putting.

Also beware the Slide Hip Turn, especially as illustrated in its accompanying photos (10-14-B #1 and #2). Also, as it is succinctly described in the Chapter 11 Summary: 'Free' Slide with 'Zero' Turn.
