How To "Stand On One"?
I'm wondering about what options the swinger has when he/she really wants to "stand on one" and max out the distance on a particular shot (primarily the driver). I understand we can use maximum trigger delay as one approach. Is another approach to simply "start down quicker" so that the acceleration from top (or end) to release is greater than on a "normal" swing. This would increase the hand speed reached by the time you get to release and, assuming you are able to MAINTAIN that same speed, would result in more velocity at impact.
I think I have a tendency to over-accelerate when I want to "let it out", with the belief that if the hands keep picking up speed into impact the ball with go farther, when in actuality the flail isn't allowed to work properly and the result is a "wipe" or push with little compression. I'm thinking that we all have a max hand speed that we're capable of maintaining from release to impact and if we know what it is and how to get to it, we can hit it further as a result. Sound right? Thanks, CG |
Think heavy as possible, not as quick as possible...
