The Open 2007

Just on the train on my way back from Carnoustie. Watched some great golf on a fantastic course. A bit cold for some of the visitors at 6 celcius but pretty easy conditions none the less.

Great to see how the people of Scotland have taken to Boo Weekly. Stories of fights with apes and asking Paul Lawrie if he had qualified had made him a local hero before he tee'd off but once they witnessed the ball striking they knew he was their man! Keep it going Boo.

We got to get Lynn over here on his long awaited visit to the home of golf.

Looking forward to it. The big guns are facing a good challenge at Carnoustie this week. Typical links weather and the course looks great on tv.
As an aside, I noticed that our Ian Clark had an instruction article in Today's Golfer this month (about getting on plane)

I look forward to it, too!

As for this year.. Rory McIlroy yesterday was wonderful. Looks like somebody with a huge talent, and not a one-round wonder.

Tiger seems to be losing it a little bit in round 2 so far.

No real rough to speak of either. The course looks perfect though. Looks like the R&A might have nailed it this year.

This is good stuff, folks

This site and the internet make this a very small world.

Thank you for the up-to-date posts from the Open.

This is cool!

It is due. However bookings for 2008 probably need to be made within weeks from now, if its not already too late. Late autumn group booking efforts will most likely be in vain, unless you are looking at the executive packages that rather few will be able to afford (starting at $2,680 for a 2-day package including 1 (one) round at the Old Course).

Final Round

Sunday's round was a thriller...the final three holes very decisive...I was really pulling for the Argentinian player to win unfortunately that 2 iron out of the thick stuff was his undoing...he must have imagined he was having a hot back nine so he was feeling bullet proof.

Even though I have the same surname as Sergio..it is hard for me to pull for him....he is a very skilled & talented player...but he seems to not have the control of his emotions or thoughts during his rounds. While the long putter gave him some confidence during the Open...it was not enough in the end.

His press room conference after Sunday's event was so revealing of his frame of mind. He blamed the wait on I believe 18 for his poor iron shot into the green. He made reference to the ball hitting the flagstick and bouncing 15 feet off as just another omen of bad luck that haunts him...and as he said it isn't the first time that something like this has happened to him...what can one say for poor Sergio....destined never to win a Major because the gods are against him.

At the same time, few of us are successful enough in anything that we are interviewed immediately after our greatest upsets. I know my amount of perspective can be rather dismal after I get a grade on an exam I don't much care for. I don't agree with what he said, but I don't know how I would truly sound under those circumstances . . . would love to find out though!
