Learning the TGM Stroke?
After an inconsistent season, I have decided to re build my swing TGM style from the ground up. Last night I began to do the little chip shot like you see Ben Doyle teach in the vault. I really began to get a solid feeling in my hands and the ball seemed to take off with minimal effort.
Should I just continue to hit a hundred or so shots like this into the net every night and then gradually increase the length of my backswing? Im going to get an Impact Bag, but since Ive always had an OTT issue (round house) I wondered if you guys thought this might help along with the impact bag? http://www.egolfinstruction.com/Trai...ds/Insider.htm Its designed by Mike Bender a TGM guy. Thanks in advance for your help! |

In addition to Ben's video, I suggest you go to the free vault and click "On Tour With LBG". In there, you will find John Riegger demonstrating all three stages [Edit: Watch all of the John Riegger videos] Then go back to the free vault and review all of the lessons with Lynn and Jeff Hull. As far as the "Insider" is concerned, first let me say that Mike Bender is a good instructor and he has good products. Before you spend the $99, though, you could try something else. In the photo where Mike is demonstrating the insider, imagine that you are in the same position and sighting down the outside of the left forearm. You can imagine that line on the ground. Lay an iron on the ground so that you can see the outside of your forearm in line with the shaft on the ground. Now, if you move down plane, the left arm will start moving on that line. If you go over the top, your left arm will immediately appear on the outside of the shaft on the ground. Try it and see what you think. |
Saving a buck or two
As long as we are being budget minded, I would add an impact bag can be made from 3 old pillow cases and some old towels / rags / golf shirts/ whatever as the innards. Mine has lasted fine for about 4 years now.
Of course I don't compress it the way 12pieceBucket would..... UPP in overcast but not bad for December Ohio |

I think the first thing you gotta do is change your CONCEPTS. A very good start would be to go read the Sick of Hacking? thread in Yoda's Corner. Some of the best and most fundamental material that you need to get in your Computer. It starts there with the Line of Compression and understanding Down & Out On-Plane to Low Point.
That thread is a MUST READ. |
I'll do that Bucket...so many swing theories out there it makes your head spin.
I've dabbled in them all, but until I quit flipping, scooping, and coming over the top I'll just keep spinning my wheels. Thx man.... |
Neil,
I haven't got the book, mainly because of the stories of engineer's that couldnt even read it. But I think since I can bounce stuff off you guys I will go ahead and pick up a copy. |
