Settup, open clubface?

I'm a beginning hitter and have had good results setting up with an open club face. This is all the way through the bad except putter. I just got tired of going left much of the time. Is this a compensation or correct? My thinking is that it is square, my open clubface at address,to the downswing inside path and not the target line. Anyway presently it works.

The ball leaves at right angles to the clubface at separation. Which implies that the clubface is open at impact. The degree to which it is open is dependent on.............. I got nothing...........Angle of Approach? Personal experience? Hinge Action? Help.

2-j-1

I would say all of the above OB. Crucible, it could be that your clubface is square to the arc and "open" to the target line, or square but visually open. Don't forget that the clubface need only be square at seperation, not impact (there is an impact interval afterall) I was (and on occasion still am) plagued with a pull, especially with the short irons (more hook face) Then I read 2-J-1. Take your grip at impact fix...take your grip at impact fix. Then going to an adjusted address aligment (bent left wrist/flat right wrist)will nullify the uber-open looking clubface.

I thought 'closed at address' was preferable for hitters. Esp those taking an impact fix address

Right you are

That is correct...an open face is for a swingers norm...a horizontal hinge. I just noted that crucible is hitting:eyes:
