Hitters vs Swingers

Hello all new to the site

There is more swingers on the the PGA tour than hitters ?

True OR False ?

If this is in fact a true statement I'm interest in people's thoughts on why this would be the case ?

With only my own observation (and no statistical data) to back it up, I would say 'true'.

Why?

Because, that's the way most of us -- including tour players -- have been taught.

By their instructors (who were similarly taught) . . .

And, also, the mainstream book and magazine press.

Hitters are usually a dogged lot, simply going their own 'odd' way in spite of those who would have them do otherwise. And leaving, I might add, quite a number of swingers in their scoring wake.

There is more to this post than meets the eye. So true and I might add many a natural hitter has been ruined by a forced conformity to a swingers norm.

IMHO Hitting is not the Crowning Golf Stroke Achievement that some purport it to be.

All theory aside, Equipment has had no small contribution in allowing Hitting to become a viable solution. Stiff as a baseball bat shafts have helped as well as the smaller than 5" long heads like those hanging on my office wall from the early 1900's.

Let's also not forget, that there is only one indisputable difference separating hitting and swinging. With Hitting, Right Triceps Muscle Uncocks the Left Wrist while Swinging employs Centrifugal Force.

Oh oh, are we Hitters getting too righteous? Give us a break, we only got to vote like a decade ago. Its not like we havent had to ignore all the golf magazine swinger centric stuff for ever. Nobody said its anything other than another way!

You're just mad cause our Punch Elbow can approach your Pitch meaning you guys lost your sole ownership of the small pulley wheel and late release.

Why dont you relax, go to a mirror and admire your left wrist cocking action or something.

If you poke around other message boards you will notice that there always are hitting and swinging threads...I think people are fascinated that there are two completely separate ways to apply force to the shaft of golf club. I know I am.

Yesterday on the back 9 I was really struggling (after shooting 38 on the front) and it was not a serious game with 3 guys I had never met before. I was on 17 a long par 3 over water, 195 yards, and for laughs I told them I was going to completely change the way I hit the ball, more Trevino style. I think they thought I was joking, or nuts, but I set up impact hands and used a hitting motion and just ripped it about 30 feet short and slightly left. Compressed to all hell.

I can "hit", I actually "hit" my irons better hitting, its just not consistent and never translates to a full round of golf.

Its fun though to play around!!!

I admire the Hitting Pattern and I find it especially useful for breaking auto glass. :)
