Hooks
What could cause hooks for a hitter? Feels like the clubhead is getting ahead of my hands. Pivot stopping?

bgolfing,
Just curious--are these hooks off the toe or from the center of the clubface?? Dr Dave |

The reason I asked was because I have the same problem. Tried to work on it during this past weekend (golf trip). However, my hooks seem to come off of the toe. Hope one of the 'BIG GUYS" can help us! Dr Dave

If the hand starts Flat, Level, and Vertical, and it returns Flat, Level, and Vertical. It will be difficult to hit it anywhere but straight. |
Thanks Ted. I remember watching you set-up by holding the club in your left hand and check to make sure it was flat/level/vertical. (In fact I even asked you what you were doing!!!). Yoda had me start with the right hand first and make sure the right forearm was on plane with the shaft----but for some reason I end up with a very strong left hand grip doing this, probably because I'm not placing my right hand on properly. Time to hit the mirror again. 10-2-B, 10-2-B,10-2-B.......I'll do it! Thanks. Dave

So you would say the left hand for a hitter should be in a neutral to weak position? I too struggle with this problem. My typical ball flight starts right down the middle of the fairway and turns left. Usually I can only solve it by aiming right, knowing that it will turn toward the middle. Usually creeps in from the 5 iron down..
