windshield wiper divots
 

i was hitting balls to day and i looked down and i saw i had a couple windshield wiper divots. i was wondering yoda is this when i am not hitting the impact bag and i am pulling my arms inside? cause when i tried to image the impact bag out there i would have the nice divot? :?:

Divots that start straight and curve left towards the end. Its a product of going left after impact instead of OUT

I think I do this as well. Could making sure the rear shoulder moves downplane all the way to both arms straight help? I think that stops me from moving left too much

I have the same problem.

Divots should never go left of the Plane Line. If they do, you have a bent Plane Line. With short irons, your divots should go to the right; mid irons, slightly right to straight; long irons and woods, straight.

To understand proper divot direction, think about the Angle of Approach and how it points further and further to the right as the Ball moves back in your stance.

A bent Plane Line is generally due to the Right Shoulder not going Down enough (more Out than Down).

One note of caution to some who read this. DOWN plane is not a vertical drop (ala Faxon) but a Down and Out motion on an incline plane. Remember to stay on the plane- Down, Out and Through.

Can a swinger use the angle of approach? If I am loading the left wrist as a swinger, should I try to aim the lag along the angle of approach? That would certainly solve my downstroke blackout. I believe Brian M. said that the clubhead strikes the ball at 4pm and leaves at 10pm.

angle of approach is more compatible with an angled hinge, so to the extent that you do this, be aware that you're moving away from horizontal hinge OR you are shifting your plane line out to the right with horizontal hinge and that will tend to give you some big right to left shots. Take note that this is also moving into the land of cross line hip motion, again, more of a hitter's move.
