Still remember driving around in the rain trying to hear the Yankee game on a NY radio station, on the day he died, and picking up a hitchhiker going to philly to see his sister at med school. He left behind a copy of Richard Brautigan's The Hawkline Monster: A Gothic Western in return for the ride. I lost Thurman that day but found Brautigan.
