Fix that and you'll be fine.
How does right wrist cock relate to left wrist bend,or do you mean flattening of the right?

This tastes a little flat.
For starters, following the Vertical Motion of the Uncocking of the Left Wrist with a Horizontal Motion (Flattening) of the Right Wrist.

I get the feeling that if one can achieve the Flat left wrist at impact the rest of the imperatives will fall into place with practice. Anyone else agree?

No, don't agree. Too many golfers out there with a 'fake' Flat Left Wrist (what the heck? ) at Impact.
Out of the Three Imperatives, if I really had to choose one where if you could do it everything else will fall into place, then I would choose Clubhead Lag Pressure.

The left wrist works in a vertical plane uncocking and cocking in a "up and down" motion, again VERTICAL. Even when you on the inclinded plane, it's still a vertical motion performed on an inclinded plane.

The right wrist works in a horizontal plane bending and unbending. This is how the left wrist stays flat when the left forearm is turned to the plane...because the right wrist is BENDING on a HORIZONTAL PLANE. Watch Tomasello's video on i think the hands, he demonstrates this clearly.

When you BEND the left wrist you are introducing a VERTICAL MOTION to the RIGHT WRIST which introduces the bend in the left wrist, which also conversely severly opens the clubface.

Take all the "cock" or "vertical" motion out of the right wrist and you'll have a flat left wrist.

Are you saying that ,at the top ,or end,IF YOU COCK THE RIGHT WRIST ,you must bend the left?

The Flat Left Wrist Bends because of Uneducated Hands.

I spend a good percentage of my lessons, teaching beginners, ladies, scratch player's, college player's, club champs, and everyone in between how to maintain the flat left wrist at Impact and through to Follow Through by educating the hands and the flying wedges. I start with the basic motion and work up.

I teach at least two of these lesson a day......and boy is it fun!!
By the way these lesson's have a pretty high return rate because when you improve basic motion impact you've began improvement on all impact positions...basic, acquired, and full swing.

Sorting Through the Instructor's Textbook...with the help of Ted, Lynn, and David.

Yes, it's a relationship. However please realize that if you have a 10-2-B grip your left wrist will not be "visually" flat, it will have a very slight cup to it however it is flat in relation to the flying wedge.

And if you use a 10-2-D grip, you will have a noticable "bend" in that left wrist, ala Daly or Couples.

Tong,
You missed the point. You either have the flat wrist and create max compression or not. Faked is not flat.
I believe one could have a bent right wrist and lag pressure and not have a flat wrist.
Maybe I am wrong but Homer made it #1 (flat wrist) for a reason.

That's true man....it is #1....

But I think what Tong means....

Is that to REALLY sustain Lag Pressure....

I think it helps to be on plane (esp. not way underplane)....."on-plane force"....

And if you have Lag Pressure...

You will have a Flat left wrist thru Impact....

...

BTW what's this "fake flat" business?
