The right elbow is an extension of the right forearm and that is what you want to be on plane at impact. So if you setup with that right forearm on plane, then yes you will want to return that right forearm to that same position at impact.

If you setup with some kind of adjusted address your right forearm will not be on plane at setup, but should get there with a proper stroke.

If you are "trying" to get your right forearm on plane during your full stroke you are going to have a lot of trouble because the right forearm on plane is an effect of other proper motions, not something you try to achieve.

So get some dowels, learn your flying wedges, and practice with a mirror how they work in the back/down stroke and eventually you are going to translate those MECHANICS into a FEEL and will ingrain them in your stroke.
