Feedback needed
A little background. I have been using the Puttingarc for a few years and really like it. I have been trying hard to go with that style putting and also using some of the Utley information to aid me. What I like about the Arc is that it really shows you how much you need to and can release the putter. I also found that a belly putter is a good putter to show this as well. SO today I took a BP to the practice green to try and work on my release while keeping my left wrist flat. As I was practicing it dawned on me that the BP created a plane from my stomach to the ball. I concentrated on swinging the club in an arc on that plane and my putting really improved. It improved even more when I tried to trace it with my right forearm (would love to have it help me get rid of the y*&^%).
So here are my questions:
1. Is that plane a legitimate plane and image to use?
2. ANother putting website advocates a straight back/thru stroke and the pro wants your neck/forehead and eye gaze to be parralel to the ground which aids in a str8 back/thru stroke. I started thinking about that as well and wondered if in the arc stroke your eye "plane" should be above and parallel to the corresponding belly putter plane in order to help with the stroke. I tried this and it seemed to work. Is that legit?
SOrry for the length of the post but I really feel like some fog has lifted. Thanks in advance.

Your plane is legit. Don't worry about that. When the belly putter is anchored in the belly it is still the shoulders that are doing the work. So, you are tracing a straight line on the ground with your forefinger which moves the putter head in an arc.

As far as the straight back and through business. Staight back and through is possible, even wanted, if your upper spine is horizontal to the ground. Most, if not all, players do not have this accomodation at address but it is possible. So the arc type stroke will fit you best unless you change your posture.

I hope this helps.
