Chainsaw's Challenge
Gentlemen
Lets say I'm so confused by golf instruction that when I pick up a club I just don't know what to do with it.
Say I ask you to write no more than three short sentences to tell me plainly how to swing a club and hit the ball. I can grip the club well and address the ball properly, and telling me WHAT to do won't help. You need to tell me HOW to do it.
Can you do that with TGM?
BTW if you like you can use 3 short drills to teach me the action or a combination of drills/instruction.
Easy? Lets see.

T'aint that easy.
If it was that easy no one would be here. There are many who could give you lovely responses to your challenge, but without an instructor to provide you with the proper feedback, you would have little idea of whether you were properly executing. Study and read, especially the videos and the archives here. Get your feet wet in TGM, and get a feel understanding the basics. There are three imperatives and three essentials to making a sound golf swing, but you will understand and learn only with time and guidance. Go take a lesson with an A. I. who knows his (or her) stuff and that will speed the process.

I am taking EVERY word of your post into account for my answer
1. Turn you right hip behind you, as you lift your arms over your right shoulder.
2. Shake your arms & hands at the ball as if they had powdered sugar on them, and you were trying to 'get it to come off' on the ball.
3. Make a left-handed frisbee throw motion with your body during this shake, to give it some ummmph!

I like it BrianMan
I think that is really close Brian. I think I could get my son to use a club with those three sentences. Can't wait to see what others come up with.

Thanks for knowing the difference between what and how, as so few people do.

The Gateway:
1. Start with Chip and short Pitch Shots.
2. Leave your Head in the center of your feet and with your weight left, the Ball back and your Hands ahead, lean the Clubshaft forward.
3. With your Head and Body steady, take the Club away with your Right Forearm and Bending Right Elbow, then Drag it through Impact as if it were a wet mop, keeping your Left Wrist Flat and your Right Wrist Bent.
When you can do this, we have a premise to work from.
Get to work!

1) swing a heavy club (or two/three clubs held together) with your eyes closed.
2) imagine in your minds eye the result you want and see yourself doing it (do this on EVERY shot)
3) imagine you are trying to throw the club down the fairway (Shoemaker's drill), then shift to trying to throw it DOWN THROUGH the ground, try to drive the ball "to China" (Ben Doyle)
4) Maintain your balance and hold your finish. Focus on your target (Knudson).
See the 'drills' section on this site. (EdZ)
