I didn't want to hijack the nice pics put up by Annikan on the Appleby post so I started a new thread. Hope that's okay.
My swing looks like pic #1 in that I'm set up square-square with shaft line going right along bottom of right forearm. I sort of look like impact pic (without that much good lag). My follow through isn't that complete (I need to work on that).
But my big problem is pics 2-4. I wind up at similiar impact but I know it isn't as powerful as it should be. Now I know better than to ask how can I swing like Appleby because if anyone could show me that they'd have a ton of tour players following them around but I would like my motion to become more efficient like that.
It seems I can either have a full shoulder turn which makes for a more powerful swing because my arms have more time to build up speed or solid contact. The same holds through for my follow through, I can have a complete follow through that feels a lot more powerful than normal or solid contact. As you might guess, right now I've been sticking with solid contact.
Any tips or drills that would help an ole' overweight hitter put more length in his swing without sacrificing compression?
