Where Does The Power Come From?
Where does the POWER come from? A TGMer might say... well... the Power Accumulators, or Centrifugal Force, or Thrust, or maybe a few other answers.

First, what is POWER? P= The rate at which WORK is done, mathematically expressed as the first derivitive of work with respect to time and commonly measured in units such as the watt or horsepower.(from Webster)

In physics we have MASS, SPACE, TIME, and ENERGY. We talked about MASS before. SPACE... is what is in between two pieces of MASS(measured by distance) TIME... is the concept of the difference between events(measured in seconds, or parts of a second)

ENERGY-- the capacity to do WORK/// WORK= changing the state of something (force x distance)

So... POWER has to do with WORK, and WORK has to do with FORCE and DISTANCE.

FORCE-- A vector quantity that tends to produce an acceleration of a body in the direction of its application.(Webster)

TGM talks about FORCE, VECTORS, KINETIC ENERGY... so where does the POWER come from?

Have a person strike a ball with NO WRISTCOCK, and NO RIGHT ARM COCK. Some lights will come on. Then have them strike a ball with WRIST COCK AND RIGHT ARM BEND, but NO PIVOT. More lights will come on. Finally, have them strike a ball with NO WRISTCOCK, NO RIGHT ARM BEND, AND NO PIVOT... ????? = NO POWER

What do you think?

An elegant summary Lagster. Very efficient!

Thanks... Should have started a new thread or category. Maybe someone can move it over to it's own thread. I think the POWER question may be of interest, and start some others jumping in there.

Like... How LITTLE can a stroke be, i.e. 1/2, 3/4, etc., and still strike it about as far as a BIG swing(Daly)?
