Pivot Lag

In Hitting if one wants to use the Pivot to set the lag pressure point, is it a sublte shifting of the pressure that the feet are placing on the ground that stops the club from going back, or is it the driving of the right shoulder (part power package, part pivot) downplane that sets back of the handle against #3ppt?
