Do you think being on the clock got to him? Its not like it is new for him or anything. I do like Paddy though. When I saw him in the flesh at the Memorial I was taken aback by how athletic he looked in the flesh. He will win another major I think.
Tiger was faltering there for a bit. History will probably remember such things. That 8 iron on 16 was insane good. When he hit it the tourney was on the line for him. And we were there, sort of. Well I was there once. Played the course. The green on 16 is so small. TV doesnt really do it justice. Sort of like the 12th at augusta but after you've travelled 600 yards or so.
How do you get 18 minutes out of position and and entire hole behind...someone was playing slow...the GC tried to cover for them and said it was the crowds and TV coverage's fault...I'm not buying that one.
I think being on the clock hurt Paddy - it was very nice of Tiger to say as much in his post round interview.
The truth is though, he hit a bad drive on 16 and then compounded it with two more bad shots straight after.
Yes Tiger was making birdie but Paddy should still have been tied for the lead which would have made the last two holes even more dramatic.
Its the best Paddy has played for a year so it is good news for him and a confidence boost going into the PGA.
Can Tiger win 3 weeks in a row? I don't think so, but he was hitting some great shots yesterday.
