300Drive's Swamp Visit
I paid a visit to the swamp last week on a nice, but windy day. I only had 6 or so hours to work with Lynn and crew, but, we covered a TON! How was the lesson……The very best I have ever had. What was the biggest change Lynn made with me as a golfer? He changed my Mind!.........From there, everything else is just a matter of time and practice.
When you go, (and you must go, because you are reading this, I know you Love this game and want to improve), you will begin with Lynn describing AND demonstrating the flying wedges, extensor actions, plane angles, and the like. BRING YOUR CAMRECORDER! (I did, thank God), and bring an extra tapes and a back-up battery to capture as much as possible. It’s your take home instruction tape for life. I have reviewed mine at least 4 times since last Wednesday.
Lynn is a wonderful communicator and motivator. What I like about his teaching approach is that he DEMONSTRATES everything….I mean everything. And he focuses on precision. “you either do or don’t do, there is no try…” so, you know when he says you have done something right, you really have.
Then you move from Basic Motion, to Acquired Motion, and executing them with precision, so that you feel what those motions are like. You also hit some flops and really understand how and why practicing in these two areas is so important to implementing whatever swing changes you must do to improve.
After my filmed swing, (I am a swinger), we hit some more pitch shots, went to lunch and moved over to the range to work in Acquired Motion and Total Motion. My biggest swing problems…….Extensor Action, Tracing the plane line on the downswing, and executing horizontal hinge action with swivel….so understanding and improving on those is where we spent the bulk of the afternoon’s work. Great drills and great demonstration…..lots of motivation….Great lesson. I was encouraged to do my drills every day for the next 30 days…but in reality, I am sure that the areas we focused on will be my work for the summer. The good thing…I don’t have to worry about so many other drills since the ones I am doing apply most to me.
Is there anything I would change….YES…I would make sure I flew in the night before and had all day to work with Lynn. I learned so much. I will certainly be back, either for a private lesson or to one of his golf schools. I really like that I can now focus primarily on swinging, and not get lost in reading unnecessary stuff that doesn’t apply to my swing right know. I have much better clarity of where I am and where I am going. Highly recommended trip to all. Lynn is the real thing, and it is well worth the money. He even called me two days after the visit to give me one additional point of emphasis, post follow-thru swivel to eradicate the slight fade tendency.
By the way Lynn, I played yesterday (only 9 holes) and shot a 40 while in 20+ mph wind! (I am a 12 handicap). My friend already commented on my “new” top of backswing. I hit the ball very well. ……..Thanks for your time and energy!
