Okay, here comes another week for Our Hero. He's in today at 69 (-2) and T22. Sixteen pars and two birdies. Ho hum. http://www.pgatour.com/r/leaderboard/
BTW, have you guys seen this? Cool!

That's great! Talk about a mixed bag...
I cannot wait until tomorrow. I hope we get to see a lot of those good alignments.

I think I saw one of those in Lynn's bag. I hear they're long.

I have an Exotics 4 wood. I hit it as far as any of my 3 woods.

Driver distance
Noticed Brian is way up there in the rankings in driver distance this week. Averaging over 300 yds per drive. Is this a new strategy or is it just the Arizona air (if that's the case, everyone else would be relatively longer, but they're not. That's what has me curious).

Haven't looked at the driving stats, efnef, but BG is so great. Five-under (69-68 ) through the tortuous delays of yesterday and today.
Stack'em up: Birdies on #3 and #5 today (through seven). He's now at seven-under through five in Round 3 (with play suspended for darkness).
Wow.
One-on-one, such a regular guy. Not big. Not imposing. And certainly no big mouth.
Like your little brother.
And then -- on the golf course -- he destroys you.

Brian's Tour Edge Exotics three-wood is the 13 degree model (versus the standard loft of 15 degrees). Provided you've got a swing good enough to launch the ball sufficiently, the lower loft provides greater distance.
However, that's only part of the story. I'm told that most Tour Edge Exotics are built to sit about two degrees "open" (versus about the same amount "closed" for the normal club). This has the effect of reducing loft (just as bending the face closed increases it). This is counter-intuitive; you would think it would work the other way around.
So, one of the reasons the Tour Edge fairway wood is longer is because it is carrying less effective loft. Then, when you combine that phenomenon with the lower-loft 13-degree model, you can see that BG's weapon of choice is practically a driver.
