It's a guess without seeing the swing, but the problem may be conceptual. If you see the ground directly underneath the ball as the bottom of the circle, then you visualize the ball as leaving the clubface on a tangent and the club starts to move inward. However, if you view the ball leaving the clubface as a chord (within the circle) -- which is what it is supposed to do -- then you can more easily visualize how the clubhead must continue to swing down and out along the circumference to the bottom of the circle.
Actually "see" that circle continuing beyond the ball, down and out into the ground. It helped me; maybe it will help you, too.
