Novocaine is a pain killer. It is used most frequently by dentists; the dentist will apply a shot of novocaine to the area of the mouth that will be worked on.
The shot numbs the area big time.
Just a slight correction. Dentist use Xylocaine or Carbocaine for local anesthesia, but we know what you meant.I happen to know a little about this topic since that is my day job.
