Epic line up if there ever was one.
|
Maybe I'm not understanding this right, but there seems to be an ever increasing focus on the mental aspect of the game. Is it increasing or is it simply more present?
I watched a video about a guy from California, who, at 40 years old, decided it was time to test and challenge himself to become a Tour Player. A huge part of his training involved "Mental Attitude" and changing his thinking or at least trying to change his emotional approach when hitting the ball or his emotional response to having hit a poor shot. Maybe my thinking is to old fashion, but I have always thought that a large part of having self confidence was having something to be confident about. I swear, if you live west of Mississippi and north of Texas you'll become a mansy pansy Golfer and I'm not completely convinced about Texas anymore either. Naturally, LBG.com members excluded. :laughing9 The name of the movie was "The Back Nine". I hate doing this but I can't help showing you his library of golf books. The Mental Game
Quote:
1. In Learning, to gain over time a crystal clear understanding of the necessary Golf Stroke Mechanics. This is the Blueprint. 2. In Practice, to translate those precision Mechanics into identifiable Feels through the conscious programming of the subconsious mind. This is the process of Building. 3. In Play, to use your imagination (born of experience) to visualize the alternative shots for the situation at hand; weigh risk against reward, particularly in the light of your own capabilities; and to choose among them wisely. Then, to employ (1) a disciplined Pre-Shot Routine (with its own set of Visualizations and Feels) that will program the Computer for its essential responsibility (Execution Control) and (2) a disciplined Post-Shot Routine that will reinforce the intended Stroke; set the stage for a successful outcome on the next Stroke; and avoid the negative psychological and physical consequences of dwelling on past mistakes. This is the End Result. These activities combine to produce an effective, efficient Golf Stroke. A Golf Stroke you own. A Golf Stroke you can "turn loose and trust". :) "You want confidence in putting? I'll tell you how you get confidence in putting: You get confidence in putting by getting humpbacked picking the ball up out of the can." "There is a reason why most golfers don't trust their swing. It's because their swing (including its programming) isn't trustworthy.":golfcart2: |
I guess I'm in the Jimmy Demaret and Yoda School.

Yoda's quote is golden :-) (my bold) "There is a reason why most golfers don't trust their swing. It's because their swing (including its programming) isn't trustworthy." -- Yoda |
How to be a great putter??
Practice - In September I watched Tiger make 100 3-4 footers in a row from the same spot with two hand and one hand. Stevie kept picking them out of the hole and rolling them back to TW.

just wondering, Yoda, if the speakers produce transcripts of their presentations?
If you do, would it be possible to get a copy? I would also love to read a transcript of Pia & Lynn's presentation. I'm sure that quite a few of the others will be fantastic too but thise two really caught my eye. |

If I write out my talk, I will post it here. But don't hold your breath: I've never been much good at 'coloring between the lines'. :salut: |
superb!
If its possible to get copies of the other speakers slides that would be awesome too! |
The PGA gives out a seminar manual,to attendees, of the materials received from presenters. To my knowledge transcripts of individual presentations are not provided, bby the PGA. Some presenters make their transcipts available through their own web sites.
All presentations are video taped. The PGA does offer to it members an opportunity to purchase DVD's of individual presentations or the complete series, for the Teaching and Coaching Summit. These DVD's become available about 2-3 months following the Summit. The cost, if memory serves, is $30 to $35 per DVD and a discounted price for the complete series. This years Summit has the best overall list of presenters (the line-up is heavy on the TGM side). Some I have seen before and would see again. I regret not attending. The temptation to see YODA present has me waffling on making last minute arrangements to make the trip. My bet is that Yoda's presentation will be the hit of the T & C Summit. Yoda, Best wishes to you an the successful reception to your professional, highly informative and vibrant presentation. GPStyle, PM me if you are interested in DVD copies of any of the presentations. As I am planning another trip to Ireland around the time that the DVD's become available. Michael Phillips, PGA |
