LaSalle Bank Open / Nationwide
Congratulations to John Riegger on his stellar 65 today. His round featured six birdies and an eagle 3 at the Par 5 last. With rounds of 70-65, he is currently 9-under par and T-3.
Congrats also to Fort Smith winner Jay Williamson at -6 (71-67), Neal Lancaster at -4 (70-70) and Greg Kraft at -3 (70-71). With a purse of $750,000, the LaSalle is the richest event on the regular schedule of the Nationwide Tour. Only the limited-field, season-ending Tour Championship adds more ($775,000). http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/h080/index.html A strong finish here goes a long way toward securing a coveted 2008 PGA TOUR card (awarded to the season's top-25 money winners). :salut: |

Teaching and Applying
It's got to be a great feeling to see a student apply and win.
Rob Noel and Lynn - Come'on guys! Any words from the Champ that you can share? I know you've been burning up the cell minutes on this one. :) |
Well Deserved Win!!!
I talked to John breifly after his win today. We didn't have time to go through the round because he was late getting to the airport to head home. It is really nice to see all of his hard work pay off. I've watched John hit the golf ball very well for the last 5 years but the putter held him back from winning. Well this week it all came together. To show you how good he hits it he told me he didn't hit it extremely well today but really putted good. Once this all sinks in for him I'm sure he will be online telling everyone here about it.
Count another WIN for the information we all love. Thanks Homer. Hunter |
Congratulations John Riegger!
Congratulations to John Riegger on his exciting victory at the LaSalle Bank Open, his first PGA TOUR-sponsored win! :eyes:
The $135,000 first prize moves John to 6th place in Nationwide Official Money and virtually guarantees his 2008 PGA TOUR card (awarded to the top 25 2007 Nationwide money-winners). :salut: Congrats also to his caddy, John Custer, for another job well done. He and John are a great team, and they made it happen this week. After 290 starts and 153 cuts made on the PGA TOUR and the Nationwide Tour, the win couldn't have come at a better time. The LaSalle is the richest purse ($750,000) of the Nationwide's regular season. Only the limited-field, year-ending Nationwide Tour Championship offers more ($775,000). Check out the stories at http://www.pgatour.com/2007/tourname...307/index.html and http://www.pgatour.com/2007/tourname...307/index.html. John called from the autograph line as he exited the scoring tent. He said his back had really been bothering him since last week in Maryland, so much so that he considered withdrawing from the tournament after Friday's round. In fact, he's headed home for medical treatment and will skip next week's event. :( It is interesting that he attributes his win this week to success on the greens. We worked hard on his putting in Athens, Richmond and at last week's event just outside D.C. He is now much more comfortable in the way he is using his right arm, and it shows! |
congrats john
|
Congratulations John :salut:
I don't know how you felt but I was a bag of nerves watching you come down the stretch! Nice work Lynn;) |

Success At LaSalle
A tip of the LBG cap to all Lynn Blake students in the LaSalle field:
John Riegger, Winner on rounds of 70-65-68-68=271. Jay Williamson, winner of last month's Ft. Smith Classic, fired 71-67-68-68=274 and finished T5. Neal Lancaster, with rounds of 70-70-71-66=277, T18. Greg Kraft, 70-71-73-69=283, T47. Collectively, these four comprised 6 percent of the weekend field (66 players). Even more impressive, in this richest event of the Nationwide's regular season, they took home 23 percent of the money ($174,633 of $750,000)! :occasion: |

Congrats to John and the rest of the LBG guys on blitzing the Nationwide field in the LaSalle Bank Open.
And congrats to Lynn Blake for supporting them in their success! :salut: ![]() Riegger has winning feeling, then finds winner's circle Jun. 3, 2007 By Dave Lagarde PGATOUR.com Correspondent GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Golf, even from a purist's point of view, is one strange game, one that can create violent mood swings and create clouds of self doubt from minute to minute and shot to shot. Often, cruel and capricious it can turn for the better in a heartbeat and produce the kind of starling outcomes that can make even the keenest observers of the game scratch their heads... ...Talk about catching lightning in a jug. Riegger had competed in 290 tournaments sanctioned by the PGA TOUR in 11 seasons, including 92 on the Nationwide Tour without a victory and with just 16 top 10s. But that didn't stop him from finally getting the job done Sunday on the Nationwide Tour's biggest stage of the regular season[emphasis added], an event that annually offers the biggest first-place check ($135,000) in a full-field tournament... ...The victory moved him from 57th on the 2007 money list all the way to sixth with $169,481 in official earnings, just a couple of good paychecks short of what he will need to finish in the Top 25 and graduate for a ninth full season on the PGA TOUR... ...Riegger shot a 4-under-par 68 that gave him a 72-hole aggregate of 17-under 271 for his first victory since 1996, when he won the Columbian Open. And guess what? He never had a doubt. ... ..."You have to have confidence and faith in yourself,'' he said. "I wouldn't still be doing this is I didn't think I could win out here and on the PGA TOUR. And the fact of the matter is, I've always believed I could play.'' Copyright 2007 PGATOUR.com. All rights reserved. John Riegger Wins At the LasSalle Bank Open

Here are a few snapshots from John Riegger's recent win in Chicago. Many thanks to professional photographer Brian Kieffer. Enjoy!
#1 John, oh so modestly to the press corps: "I know it didn't look like it from the way I played, but my back was killin' me. I was in a lot of pain out there!" #2 John, Jennie and Jaxon share the spoils. "Get a good look at it now, Dad," says young Jaxon. "Like you promised, when it hits home in Vegas, it's mine!" #3 The hardest won silver in town. #4 Check's on the green, not in the mail! #5 The winning putt. John swears it was his LBG gallery leaning left that made the difference! #6 Another perfect drive. If you ain't seen it in person...you ain't seen it! |
