Good luck, Brian!

I'm ready to see Brian's swing in HD on CBS this weekend.

DVR locked & loaded!

alex_chung 06-07-2007 09:12 AM

Good luck Brian. Will be looking out for his name on the leaderboard this week.
Alex

Thom 06-07-2007 06:27 PM

Congrats Brian

-2 is a very good score under tough conditions. I hope we'll see Brian up there on sunday.

I can't beleive how the producers can ignore a player in top 3. We saw Sergio at least 10-12 times playing poor golf. Did we see Brian other than 2putts or so? Please let's see more of him tomorrow.

Yoda 06-07-2007 07:09 PM

Weekend Plans

Brian Gay shot a fine 2-under par 68 today and is T3 with Retief Goosen. The cut line will be high tomorrow, and another solid round will leave him well-positioned for the weekend. :salut:

Re Atlanta To Memphis

I hear you, asleep, but ironically, on this monstrous 7,244 yard, par 70 golf course, it is the short game that will tell the tale. The 'Bomb and Gougers' are missing fairways and greens like crazy and struggling on the bermuda once they get there. Brian is a 'straight-shooter' and one of the TOUR's best in the chipping, pitching and putting departments, so I think I'll save the airfare! :)

He has the whole package. It doesn't surprise me, but I'm happy to see him at the top (where he belongs).

Flying Wedges and Rhythm- Go get 'em Brian!

Bagger Lance 06-10-2007 05:22 PM

What a great 4 days of golf Brian.

That putt on 16 today was awesome!

While you were hitting your approach from the Bunker on 16, Ian and Bobby were commenting that you've been working with your swing instructor Alex Sloan.

Lets set those guys straight!::roll:

AHHHH YES...Bobby corrected the mistake as you made the approach on the 18th!
Mentioned Lynn Blake would recommend a 3-barrel power accumulator stroke for that shot.:) 8-)

Lots of good things said about your putting and accuracy.
You belong in the winners circle every week.

Congrats!

metallion 06-10-2007 05:45 PM

Yoda mentioned on CBS!

Thanks to the Internet I could watch todays transmission from the St Jude.

Quote:

On the 18th, Clampett chimes in as Brian is about to hit his second to the 18th.
His coach Lynn Blake would have told him to apply Angular Hinge to stay away from the water.
Feherty admitted he would not have known what that means.

Brian went on to hit the green and lagged nicely to about 2 feet.

Congrats Lynn and Brian.

Thom 06-10-2007 05:56 PM

congrats Brian, and Lynn

What a great player, and an even greater putter!!

It could be great to get some info from the man about his putting. Greenreading, routine, stroke etc.

Another wonderful four days of golf: 68-66-70-70=284, solo 4th and $288,000.

Congratulations, Brian Gay!

:salut:

Oh, and about that Bobby Clampett mention:

Bobby had earlier misidentified Brian's coach as Alex Sloan. Hey, it was an honest mistake...Alex and I are both 'old guys' who were trained by Homer Kelley way back in the early days of TGM! :laughing9 But friend John Riegger, winner of last week's LaSalle Bank Open on the Nationwide Tour, was watching from his home in Las Vegas and caught the error. He immediately text-messaged "Finchie" (Ian Baker-Finch) in the CBS tower and, next thing you know, Clampett takes a Mulligan and gets it right. Class acts, Bobby and Ian. Thanks!

And thank you, John Riegger. It's good to have friends with 'connections' in 'high' places!

:salut:

neil 06-10-2007 08:15 PM

Hey Lynn,
Less of the OLD -....I seem to remember 2 days at the swamp when I had to take a break because you were working me to DEATH:crybaby:
So you proceeded to hit 6 irons for about half an hour!! And then continued teaching till I GAVE UP!
OLD? OOOOOLD? Outrageous!:martini:

Caddy Shack...Make That 'Mansion'

Standard compensation for the professional PGA TOUR caddie consists of a flat fee for the week and a percentage of the player's winnings. The flat fee varies, obviously, from player to player, with high-profile folk such as Steve 'Stevie' Williams (Tiger Woods), Jim 'Bones' Makay (Phil Mickelson) and their like in a league of their own. But for the rank and file, $1,000 per week is a good yardstick. And the normal percentage of winnings is '5-7-10.' That is, 5 percent for a made cut, 7 percent for a top 10 and 10 percent for a win.

Remember, though, caddies pay all their own expenses, so these figures are 'gross,' not 'net.' And if the player takes the week off, so does the caddy. In other words, no play, no pay.

Today, brothers Brent and Kip Henley caddied in the next-to-last group at the Stanford St. Jude Championship. They carried respectively for winner Woody Austin and 4th place finisher Brian Gay. Woody took home $1.08 million and Brian $288,000. Do the math, and I'm sure you'll agree...

It was a pretty fair payday for the Brothers Henley. :salut: :)

neil 06-10-2007 08:22 PM

And I forgot to say
WELL DONE Player ,Coach and Caddie:occasion:

6bmike 06-10-2007 08:30 PM

And so cool to be mentioned on TV.

Brian- you played great golf on a course where past Tour winners didn't make the cut. And Woody was hot. Congratulations to you and a great tournament.

Lynn, you are the coach and friend to many winners. I know you are grinning about Brian right now.

Way to go- gang.

Matt 06-10-2007 09:41 PM

I heard the Alex Sloan comment but missed the Blake one! I had just flipped it back to the tournament and heard Bobby say something about angled hinging...

Great information by Lynn and great application by Brian. :)

12 piece bucket 06-10-2007 10:29 PM

I need to borrow some CASH . . . wonder if B.G. would hook up a more attractive interest rate than J.R. Mikey told me about this punkin farm deal that's gonna make me my first million.

Congrats to BG on a great tournament . . . I'm sure there's bigger'n'better to come.

Congrats to LBG on having the best information in golf now very much Tour tested . . . I'm sure there's bigger'n'better to come.

Congrats to HK for having the most "beautiful mind" in golf.

And congrats to Mike O for having the world's longest braided nose hairs.

Proud of Brian Gay for hanging tough with the pressure and carding 4 birdies on the last day!

Really proud of Lynn Blake and how he's carried the torch Mr. Kelly ( personally ) handed him so long ago. Let's see, that's 3 "Gold Stars" for LBG in 2007.

Great job, guys!

bambam 06-11-2007 12:06 AM

Way to go Brian and Lynn! :occasion:

Well Played Brian

I must say I enjoyed my knowing smile when I heard Bobby Clampett's TGM analysis of Brian's second shot into 18th.

Well done Brian and well played.

:salut: :salut:

Who's yer daddy?

Great story about Rieggers SMS (text message) to Ian Baker-Finch.

Wonderful to hear how Bobby got going with hinge actions and FLW's through the back nine. For some reason Feherty was not that enthusiastic. :confused1 :)

First time I hear that during a transmission. Makes me wonder where Bobby will go when Brian really contends & gets a few SwingVision on him.

Bobby deserves a bunch of email from TGM fans around the world - complementing him on talking about G.O.L.F.

If someone can post or PM Bobbys email I'll send him a nice message.

You can probably get it from the TGM site or Chuckle's site.

Brian got a swingvision analysis by Peter K during Saturday's round on a Par 3 with the 8 iron. His bottom line was that more distance would be generated by "better" use of the legs to create more leverage...something about legs too quiet and too much straightening. Don't know if Peter knows much about TGM.

I just started a new thread about this very same thing, and either nobody has an answer, or the people that have an answer arent logged on.

I thought the legs/lower body, provided a minimal (20%?) source of power.
I guess I'll just have to ask Mark Evershed or Chuck Evans.....

Sorry we're not doing enough for you around here, ColftsFan. Guess we need to lower our price.

Let me know if you get Evershed and Evans to jump through your hoops quicker than we in this community do. Or, more likely, if you get them to jump at all.

Whoa.....slow down there, brother.

Most of us are at our "day jobs" at 10:00AM on a Monday morning. LBG forums are growing fast, but it's still going to take into the evening to get replies sometimes. That'll be different in a ~year.

If you think about it, those most qualified to respond to TGM questions will also be most in demand on the lesson tee---teaching & running the shop take priority over posting. :thumleft:

Sheet- Played golf today and missed a chance to answer a question of Coltsfan- go figure. LOL.

Where did mark evershed post the answer? On his free site, pay site or just emailed you?

Seymour Dunn in his classic "Golf Fundamentals" believed the legs supplied 20 percent of power. I don't think it is that much.

ColtsFan- less coffee. No question answered before its time. Give I reasonable time before pizzing.

ColtsFan 06-11-2007 06:52 PM
