Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial / PGA TOUR / May 22-25, 2008
Congratulations to Brian Gay on his spectacular 5-under-par 65 in today's second round. Brian's two day total of 134 (-6) puts him T2 for the tournament, just one shot behind leader Phil Mickelson.
Colonial Country Club (Fort Worth, Texas) is a storied venue -- dubbed 'Hogan's Alley' in respect to its 5-time winner -- and has long been known as a 'shotmaker's course'. With a $6.1 million purse and 25,000 FedExCup points at stake, this year's event promises to reward today's shotmakers very well. Especially the winner, who will take home $1,098,000 and 4,500 FedExCup points. Could be right up 'Gay's Alley'! :golf: |

Cookin' At Colonial
Brian was only two strokes back going into 17, but a tee ball into the hazard and the resulting double bogey dashed his hopes for the lead. He finished with 69 (-7 for the tournament) and T5, five strokes behind leader Phil Mickelson.
Making up five strokes in one round on the #2 player in the world is asking a lot, but there are only four men between Brian and the lead. This is a golf course where anything can happen . . . And Brian can go low. :rambo: |

It was great to see Brian so close to the top...it was heartbreaking to see the double on 17....but BG is a professional and that hole is history...maybe something learned ....Yoda any idea what Brian hit off the tee on 17... it looked way off to the right and a very hard second shot to the green from where he was. I believe I heard 17 was playing the 2nd hardest on the course. He had a good save on 18 so tommorrow could be very interesting.:) |
A Very Good Year
Brian Gay had another solid week, finishing T10 with his 69-65-69-72=275. For his efforts, he earned $ 140,300 and 575 FedExCup points.
Brian has played 14 events this year and is now #31 on the 2008 PGA TOUR Money List with $1,232,813. He is #35 on the FedExCup list with 4,690 points. :salut: |

I do have a great deal of respect for his accomplishments and hardwork. It takes a lot of grit to be a PGA Tour journyman. His determination and hardwork is paying off, as he appears to be moving to the next level PGA Tour star. |
