Scott Dunlap Wins Panama Movistar Championship / Nationwide Tour

Congratulations to LBG student Scott Dunlap on his win at the Nationwide's 2008 season opener, the Panama Movistar Championship. Scott fired rounds of 65-68-73-71=277 for a one-shot victory and the winner's purse of $108,000.

This is Scott's second victory on the Nationwide, having last won in 2004 at the Mark Christopher Charity Classic, a span of 79 starts.

Congrats to student and teacher

Nice! I watched Scott play numerous events on the Sunshine Tour, moons ago. He was always gracious to the fans there.

One thing's for sure . . . we're not hurting anybody. :-D

:eusa pray:

And in the last 20 regular season tournaments on the Nationwide Tour, we have had three winnners (15 percent):

Jay Williamson, Fort Smith Classic, May 6, 2007

Scott Dunlap, Panama Movistar Championship, January 27, 2008

Also, last year on the PGA TOUR, one 2nd place finish (Jay Williamson in a playoff at The Travelers Championship, June 24), two 4th places (Brian Gay at the PODS Championship, March 11, and at Stanford St. Jude, June 10) http://www.pgatour.com/players/01/98/46/ and one 6th place (Neal Lancaster at the John Deere Classic, July 15) http://www.pgatour.com/players/00/63/32/. Not to mention the Southern Nevada PGA Championship (Pat O'Hara) and the Georgia Open Championship and Georgia PGA Player of the Year (Jeff Hull).

But then . . .

Who's counting?

Right you are, Howard.

As a person, Scott Dunlap is all that you say. As a golfer, I've got a little story to tell . . .

When we first got started last fall, I held up my right forefinger and used my left to point to the first joint (the #3 Pressure Point). I asked him if, from the top through release, he was aware of any pressure 'there'.

"No," he said, "not particularly."

Then, I took hold of his own right hand and held it to his attention: the first phalanx of the forefinger was a solid callus.

"Uh, Scott . . . can we agree there has been some pressure here?"

Five hours later (including interim time in the short game area and on the putting green), Scott smashed another long, straight drive and then turned to me and said:

"I think we're done."

"Done?"

"Yeah, take a look," said he, extending his hand and showing me his #3 Pressure Point.

The callus had split wide open.

. . .

Just another day at the office.

8-)

Congrats to Scott from Drew. He is a class guy with a classy golf swing. Glad Yoda could help him along towards reaching his potential. We will be looking for more great stuff in the near future.
