Not sure about Big Red? We got Cheerwine down here. Best soda EVER MADE. I dated a chick they use to call "Big Red." Didn't work out.
Any kind of grape soda is the perfect peanut submersion solution. I'm sure Big Red will do awight.
Sorry, I forgot that Big Red is a Texas thing. It is basically a cross between strawberry soda and bubble gum. Tasty over Blue Bell vanilla ice cream (pink float) as well as peanuts! I will have to check out Cheerwine if I happen wander my way to the Carolinas some day.
