Matt, sounds like I'm having a similar experience to you. I've struggled for sometime trying to get a swing that works consistently. Right now all I do is take the club straight back, load, and then pivot. All I think about is letting my right elbow(right-handed) try to get to my left front pocket(Basically Pitch elbow position). I do absolutely nothing with my hands and the swing just falls into place. As I stated, only time I really get in any kind of trouble is with bad ball position(have a tendency to get the ball too far back), or I quit on my swing a little and get the leakage hook.
It's nice not to have to think about the hands, they just hang onto the club and I really hit with the pivot. Also, I have been amazed at the increase in distance I have gotten by learning to hit with the pivot, as well as the improved chipping.
