The right glute contracts hard if a person has a good backswing pivot. As my physical therapist so eloquently said: "Look at pro golfers, their right cheek is way bigger!" The abdominals must contract if a person is going to maintain their posture. Both glutes contract in a proper downswing pivot. There is a golf anatomy book by a guy named Bazzle that is pretty interesting.
