I have been a swinger all my life,learning to hit actually helps my swinging. I would recommend players to give hitting a go it is really powerful and very accurate. It is easier to use when you dont feel so relaxed as swinging tends to require.
To Hit, you must learn to consciously control the alignments of the Stroke. Once learned, you can apply the lessons learned to Swinging. As Homer said:
"Once you've learned to Hit, Swinging is like shooting ducks in a pond."
