Ive been playing for 3 years (im 16), got to a 9 handicap within 2 years. now im a 6 handicap. first 2 years of golf didnt think about the swing 1 bit, used my natural talent, natural swing improved so fast. Past year ive become so mechanical, its made me depressed, I change my swing every few days, i dont mean working on the same move, i mean actually changeing all positions in my swing! every normal pga teaching pro buggers me up everytime. This past year i dropped 3 shots off my handicap and didnt have 1 round where i felt i played as well as i can! I shot under par twice.

Im guessing ive done about 80-100 different golf swings! And that number is going up!

Im on this website, thinking what can i do, shall i stick with this swing theary but within 3 days there is 99% chance ill be doin a different swing, just because I have 1 bad round i change my swing.

Im desperate to be a pro when im older, its my dream and i know i have the talent to do it, but i feel ive buggerd my golf career up and im only 16. I cant just swing natural because my natural swing has ingrained so many habbits!!

I wish I could just start golf all over again and never of got into mechanics and kept on improving like i was!

What am I meant to do?? Im so fustrated!

Please help!

Ricky

Im in Britain and I live 5 hours drive from Ian Clarke (nearest TGM instructor) so that isnt an option!!!

What alex_ching said is good I think, about taking a break from the game for a while, because whenever i even take 3 days off golf and come back swinging naturally i play my best but then it goes downhill again.

My sister is flying back to her home in majorca on sunday and has asked if i would like to go with her, she is flying back here in 3 weeks for christmas and id come back then. Take no clubs with me, do other things, take time to clear my head, I left my A LEVELS 3 weeks ago because I found it wasent what I wanted to do so at the moment I am searching for placements in a college, so I have got time off to go to majorca. Do you think this would help me, would this be a good idea?

I know 100% golf is what I want to do deep down, and I know 100% i have the talent to do it, so no one is going to change my mind about that!

drive
I've driven 20+ hours to see Yoda and being a pro is not my ambition. Drive the five hours, spend the night, get two days in on the range with Ian. Invest or just dream. Drive or log on. Call Ian, and "Ricky- Don''t Lose that number."

sorry bucket, sorry rh- a joke.

Don't know. You seem to play a lot of golf, save a few pounds from that. How does a 16 yr old get around on other days?. You said it was a 5 hour drive. You didn't say it was a 5 hour drive with no way to get there.
Try calling Ian, I didn't suggest two full days. He might have a answer. If you want something badly, and this dream of being a pro seems to rank high, you sometimes need to stop dreaming about it and "just do."

Well maybe it is a 5 hour drive with no way to get there, parents wont drive 5 hours they have work and 5 hour drive thats just stupid!! Im not going to go on a train because thats even more money added to getting accomodation in a b&b which would probbaly cost a bomb in Surrey! and then even more money to get home! Its just not going to happen!
And im not just dreaming, working on my game 3 hours a day isnt just DREAMING, its working to get where i want to be!

Rick,

Have you seen that there are more AI`s in Britain? Just to make sure that you know who is nearest.

Ricky, good luck. I only made a few suggestions. You are welcome by the way.
