"Vertical Hinging is best used to save par." Nuts, or just plain, M&M is on the money here! Vertical hinging has revolutionized my short game. The principle benefit is that I do not have to be as "careful" as before. meaning I can generate a little speed without concern of hitting a "hot shot" which scampers into a worse spot. I find no need for throwaway even the controlled variety. I also find that vertical hinging utilizes the bounce of the club better than the other two hinge actions. I have not figured out how to swivel through to finish without looking like I am having a seizure of some sort. I have watched Yoda of Arabia at least 10 times this week! If some of you have difficulty hitting bump and runs with say a 7 iron I would suggest unless you want to hit it under North Korean radar you should try a little vertical hinge action...it pops up quite nicely...spins a tiny bit then finds its target like a U.S. missile defense system.
